Trailer Tuesdays!

CAROLINE: There are a bazillion movies coming out this, but I only care about one of them - Just Go With It, which stars Jenny Ani and Adam Sandler.RYAN: This is the Valentine's Day rom com offering for 2011, and I'm excited for it too. Though I'm not sure why Adam Sandler thinks he can be a romantic leading man. CAROLINE: He's no hottie, but I've enjoyed him in the past as Drew Barrymore's love interest in various movies so I'll take it. Let's just hope this is better than last year's Grown Ups. RYAN: Oh dear God, there's no way it can't be. This movie has a cute, original yet typically-rom-com-silly premise. I'm sure something like this could happen but I doubt in real life it pans out as in this movie. Who's the blond chick?CAROLINE: Brooklyn Decker, who's a model and also Andy Roddick's wife. He's a tennis player.RYAN: Thank you for clarifying that. This movie better be funny. We're desperate for a good rom com! Check out the trailer here: RYAN: Next up is the animated Disney movie, Gnomeo & Juliet in 3D, which I know you're just dying to see.CAROLINE: Yeah, not so much, though the cast of voices is good: Emily Blunt, James McAvoy, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart and even Ozzy Osbourne. And it somewhat randomly features the music of Elton John.RYAN: Interesting. As you can imagine, I think it looks really cute. I love that it's based on Shakespeare and I love James McAvoy and Emily Blunt. Plus the animation looks fab. CAROLINE: It's not the worst animated trailer I've seen, but let's just say it's low on my list of priorities.RYAN: Well, I'm all over this one. I think it looks like a good one that even you could enjoy. Watch the trailer here: CAROLINE: And there's another one for the kids, and by that I mean 'tweens - the Justin Bieber movie. Which, let's be honest, isn't really a movie as much as a concert film.RYAN: It's called Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, in 3D no less, and I don't think you could pay me to see it. I suffered through the Jonas Brothers movie a couple years ago; that was enough.CAROLINE: It's hard for me to take "movies" like this seriously, though I suppose if I were 12 I'd be dying to see it. But in my adulthood, I find the Bieber to be obnoxious and offensive.RYAN: I don't like his music and I don't love concert films to begin with. I did like Spice World back in the day though. CAROLINE: I think the audience for this movie knows who it is. Check out the trailer here: RYAN: Finally, there's The Eagle starring one very buff Channing Tatum along with Jamie Bell, whom we love.CAROLINE: This is a total boy movie. Some Roman war epic. No, thank you! But yes, I do love Jamie Bell.RYAN: It has casting going for it but not much else. I love Mark Strong and Denis O'Hare too, but this trailer looks awful! CAROLINE: Yeah, I'm kind of putting it in the 'you couldn't pay me to see it' category.RYAN: I don't know if I'd go that far, but I'm not too interested. I hope it focuses more story than epic fighting. CAROLINE: I hope I never ever have to see it. Watch the trailer here: Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

Trailer Tuesdays!

RYAN: Let's hear it for some decent looking movies this Trailer Tuesdays! I really hope Unknown delivers, because the trailer is seriously awesome.CAROLINE: Totally! I remember freaking out the first time I saw it. It looks so good, and I love that Liam Neeson is still on a tear of playing badasses since he was so unexpectedly great in Taken a couple years ago.RYAN: Is he the new Harrison Ford? Maybe... CAROLINE: He's certainly heading in that direction.RYAN: He's so under the radar and so good. Let's hope this movie keeps up his tradition of badassness. I'm not sure how I feel about January Jones playing the wife though. Can she act?CAROLINE: She's kind of cold, but that might work well for her character in this case. And Diane Kruger's in it too. This movie looks vaguely reminiscent of The Game, which I freaking loved! Check out the trailer here: RYAN: Next up is I Am Number Four, a sci-fi movie based on a popular book.CAROLINE: A book co-written by disgraced memoirist James Frey no less! I'm a little curious about this movie, though it's targeted for a teen audience and seems poised to become the next Twilight franchise. It could be painful.RYAN: Don't be a hater! I think it looks cool. We love Dianna Agron from Glee and this male lead is supposed to be the next big thing. CAROLINE: His name is Alex Pettyfer, and apparently he's already acting like a Hollywood diva despite not being famous yet, if the tabloids are to be believed. He does star in another movie coming out soon though, called Beastly. But what's with him and Dianna A. announcing their engagement last week? That reeks of a PR stunt. Plus he's only 20 years old!RYAN: It's totally lame. I'm sure it's just to promote the movie. Since this isn't a summer release, it may end up being a completely average flick in every way. But I still hope it's cool and you know I love sci-fi. Watch the trailer here: Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

2011 SAG Awards

CAROLINE: It's time for the most self-congratulatory awards show of the year! The SAG Awards were tonight, and let's just say there were no big surprises.RYAN: Well, there was one - I assumed The Fighter was totally going to win for Best Cast.CAROLINE: I did too! That would have been much more deserved. But you can't underestimate the power of Harvey Weinstein. Now The King's Speech has a real shot at the Oscar for Best Picture.RYAN: Wasn't it weird to see Hilary Swank at an awards show this year? She hasn't been recognized by any of the other major awards so far.CAROLINE: She wasn't looking her best tonight either; that color was not right for her. But I though Julianna Margulies and Sofia Vergara looked fab. Kyra Sedgwick too; she's been killing it lately.RYAN: Natalie Portman's bump was in full effect.CAROLINE: You know who looked really pretty and unfrumpy for a change? Tina Fey.RYAN: She did look better than usual. And the evening didn't disappoint with its kickoff - those pretentious "I'm an actor" speeches they give.CAROLINE: At least they were funnier than usual this year. Jack McBrayer's got balls for making that joke about shoplifting with Winona in the room! Daniel Day-Lewis & Viggo Mortensen Wanted for 'Superman' Roles?

Hopefully this doesn't become a trend after the recent talk of Kevin Costner taking a role in Superman: The Man of Steel came to light, but a couple more names have apparently popped up on Warner Bros. radar as potential cast additions to Zack Snyder's comic book adaptation. Keep in mind that these actors aren't even in talks and their potential involvement should be taken with a grain of salt at this point. First up, Heat Vision reports Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings) is to play villain General Zod in the flick, while Moviehole seems to have heard that Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood) is desired for an unspecified role.

Of course, it's important to note that Mortensen is still in negotiations to take the lead male role in Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman, and if that deal is finalized, it will likely take him out of ...

Oscar Recap: The Hosts

This year's Oscar ceremony didn't have too many crazy moments.  In fact, a lot of people are saying it was quite boring. Let's start with the hosts.  Overall, the ceremony was pretty similar to previous traditional ceremonies - nothing too out of the ordinary, even though the hosts were the youngest in Oscar history. Many critics said co-host Anne Hathaway was trying to hard, but I actually liked her up on that stage.  It wasn't trying to hard, it was trying to compensate for her deadbeat co-host James Franco, who looked like he would rather be anywhere else.  Take some advice James, when you are hosting the biggest night in Hollywood alongside your peers, try to look a little interested. The Hollywood Reporter even commented that "Franco seemed distant, uninterested and content to keep his Cheshire-cat-meets-smug smile on display throughout. This year, the Oscars hit a new low. Like it fell into a hole.” And how many outfits did Anne Hathaway change into?  We lost count.  Here's some pics of them - hopefully we got them all. Anne Hathaway was charming and naturally endearing as we expected her to be.  James Franco is another story. Overall, we give these hosts a thumbs down, although it wasn't really Hathaway's fault.  With little material to work with (this year's producers weren't so hot either) and a deadbeat cohost, she was doomed from the start. WHAT DO YOU THINK?  TAKE OUR POLL! WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE OSCAR HOSTS?

UNKNOWN

CAROLINE: I was very excited to see the new Liam Neeson movie, Unknown, since Mr. Neeson has proven himself to be a great film badass and the trailer was so good. Or at least good for a February release.RYAN: I loved this trailer and am so bummed I couldn't attend the screening with you. Please tell me it was good!CAROLINE: I really wish I could. It started out OK - not as gripping as Taken, but decent. I was never fully engaged though... and then by the second half, it just got lame.RYAN: Ugh. I'm so disappointed! Was there good action at least?CAROLINE: Yeah, there were a couple of cool car chases and stuff. I definitely was on the edge of my seat a few times. But it's mostly just the kind of movie we'd expect to come out this time of year. OK, but nothing great. And it just got sillier as the movie progressed.RYAN: How's January Jones?CAROLINE: I'm not convinced she can act. She's very cold and bitchy, which is what the role requires, but I'm not sold on her. Then there's Diane Kruger as the woman who gets implicated in Liam Neeson's whole stolen identity thing, and she's good.RYAN: Isn't Frank Langella in it too?CAROLINE: He is, but only briefly at the end. By the time he came around, people were starting to laugh at the preposterous dialogue.RYAN: Oh no. That's never a good sign.CAROLINE: Maybe I went in with too high expectations since the trailer was so good. But once you find out what's actually going on, and why Liam's identity has been stolen, it's just not that great a reveal. I was already on the fence about the movie at that point, and the weak second half just made it worse. I was almost thinking I could recommend this movie just because it's a slow time of year for film, but I can't say it's a must see at all.RYAN: I can't believe I Am Number Four is the better movie this week!CAROLINE: I know! Who would have thought?-- BOTTOM LINE --CAROLINE: What could have been another fun, action-filled February flick like Taken turns out to be pretty lame. It started off OK, but got weaker as it went along. Liam Neeson is still a badass, but not nearly as much as he was in Taken. I'm underwhelmed.-- RATING --Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

THE OTHER WOMAN

CAROLINE: There's yet another new Natalie Portman movie in town, The Other Woman, which co-stars Lisa Kudrow and this guy from Kissing Jessica Stein who I always found oddly handsome.RYAN: This one's only out in limited release though.CAROLINE: Yeah, just NY and LA this weekend, but it's also available on demand already. It's a weird situation. Plus it was filmed two years ago, so I was thinking it might suck.RYAN: I'm bummed I didn't get to see it with you. Maybe I'll check it out on demand. How was it?CAROLINE: I was shocked at how much I liked this movie. Natalie Portman stars and also executive produced it, much like her recent movie, No Strings Attached, which was so lame.RYAN: I liked it!CAROLINE: Whatever. The Other Woman movie couldn't be more different, and I seriously loved it. I don't want to overpraise it because it's not really a must-see on the big screen, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It's a very intense drama. I wept a couple of times.RYAN: I've seen the trailer; isn't there a dead baby involved? That doesn't sound fun to me.CAROLINE: Yes, and it's obviously very sad. Natalie plays a girl who basically moves in on this married guy at her legal firm and they wind up getting pregnant and married. He leaves his wife, and Natalie is now step-mom to his 8-year-old son, but loses her own baby. And Nat's BFFs are played by Lauren Ambrose and Rent's Anthony Rapp!RYAN: No way! I love him. So nice to see him getting other work these days.CAROLINE: I loved the rapport between the three friends. Even though this movie isn't a comedy, their scenes together were so much more fun than the scenes with the friends in No Strings Attached. RYAN: How's Lisa Kudrow?CAROLINE: She's amazing as the scorned wife. She's so angry and bitter, for obvious reasons. I found the whole movie very realistic. They didn't sugar coat anything. Angry ex-wife, new hot, younger wife, pissed off step-son who hates his new mom, dad just trying to keep everything together. Plus it was shot in NYC so I loved seeing all the city streets and locations.RYAN: It sounds so sad though. CAROLINE: It has some truly devastating moments. Obviously the baby; but also the relationship drama between Natalie and her husband and how they handle their difficult circumstances. This is a really well-written movie, which isn't a surprise, because the screenwriter, Don Roos, has written lots of other stuff like Marley & Me, Single White Female and The Opposite of Sex. RYAN: Maybe I'd like it. It just seems a little depressing.CAROLINE: I can't lie; it is depressing. But maybe I was just in the mood for that when I saw it. I found the whole thing very true-to-life; like this is how real people would act in these scenarios. What's even more shocking is how amazing Natalie Portman is! As you know, I normally don't think much of her acting, but in this she's so natural and great. It's a really good role for her. I was duly impressed.RYAN: I can't believe my ears! We love to hate her acting abilities.CAROLINE: Believe me, I know. I'm just as shocked as you are. -- BOTTOM LINE --CAROLINE: This is a very intense, very adult movie and I loved every minute of it. The cast is great and it's incredibly realistic. It's probably not for everyone due to its subject matter, but if you can handle some intensity, I really think it's worth your while. It's one of the better movies I've seen in a while.-- RATING --Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

THE LAST LIONS

CAROLINE: I was very curious about the new documentary The Last Lions, so I took myself to see it this past holiday weekend.RYAN: Honey, I haven't even heard of this movie. What on earth are you talking about?CAROLINE: It's only out in limited release, but I saw something about it on The Today Show and I was intrigued. Let's just say I don't regret seeing it, but it wasn't all that.RYAN: So is it a nature documentary?CAROLINE: Yes, from National Geographic. Obviously, it's well shot with beautiful scenery of Africa and all that and the lion cubs are adorable; but the whole thing feels very contrived.RYAN: How so?CAROLINE: They make this whole story up about the main lioness and her cubs and you don't know if it's just creatively edited or if all this stuff actually happens. Allegedly, she loses her mate and has to go off to another territory to escape the enemy pride, and in so doing she puts her cubs in peril. It has some harrowing moments, but you're never sure if they're real.RYAN: I see what you mean. So it's not just a straight up doc about lions - they try to make it a real story?CAROLINE: Exactly, and it feels potentially fake like a reality show in that way.RYAN: That's disappointing. I do love a good nature movie.CAROLINE: Me too, but this one never fully engaged me. I thought I'd be much more into it than I was. Having said that, I totally bawled my eyes out in one scene.RYAN: Seriously?CAROLINE: Yeah. Something awful happens to one of the cubs.RYAN: Ugh. I can't stand to watch that. -- BOTTOM LINE --CAROLINE: I was excited for a really good National Geographic nature documentary, but this movie didn't live up to my expectations. It feels a little forced. Maybe the story of the lioness is totally true, but a lot of the movie just seemed like clever editing. It has some redeeming value, but overall was a disappointment. I think there are better nature movies out there.-- RATING --Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

Box Office Results

RYAN: Liam Neeson took the box this weekend with is mediocre movie Unknown.CAROLINE: I'm not surprised. He's the biggest star of the new movies but it certainly wasn't the best new movie. And it takes a lot for me to admit that.RYAN: I know! I'm partly shocked you liked I Am Number Four as much as I did. At least it's a close #2.CAROLINE: It will have to do well, though, over the next few weeks to inspire confidence in a sequel.RYAN: Box office isn't as big the start of this year as it was last year. It was very different in 2010 when Avatar was still playing.CAROLINE: That's true.RYAN: I can barely find the inspiration to talk about the movies this weekend when the Oscars are just around the corner.CAROLINE: I know. I'll be excited all week.RYAN: I hope we agree with the winners and that the show is fun and funny and just greatly entertaining.CAROLINE: I hope some wear just ridiculous gowns so we can gossip about them.RYAN: That's as bankable as Colin Firth for Best Actor.Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

Trailer Tuesdays!

I feel like he's stars exclusively in movies that come out in January or February.RYAN: I'm actually into this one because I looooove me some Ben Foster.CAROLINE: Yes! I thought of you the minute I saw the trailer and knew you would love that. But the rest of the movie? Eh. It's such a January release, and looks like a total boy movie. The action might be decent, but who can tell?RYAN: Well, I'm hopeful that it's good because of my Ben Foster worship, but it does look kinda lame.CAROLINE: Jason Statham is good at being a badass though. And it co-stars Donald Sutherland and Tony Goldwyn. Basically, I'd see this movie for free but I can't imagine shelling out 13 bucks for it. Check out the trailer here: RYAN: Next up is The Rite, a horror movie starring Anthony Hopkins. CAROLINE: I never thought I'd hear "Anthony Hopkins" and horror movie in the same sentence, much less a silly one that comes out in January. I really don't think you could pay me to see this movie; it's way too nightmare inducing for me. What's with all the exorcism movies lately?RYAN: Come on - I think it looks creepy and cool! And LBH, Sir Anthony does well in a thriller - are the lambs still crying, Clarice?CAROLINE: True, but this looks more gruesome horror than thriller. I'm so not down. And if Sir Anthony weren't in it, would we even be giving it a second glance?RYAN: Probably not, but he is in it, so I'm interested. Watch the trailer here: Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

Charles McDougall to Direct 'Burt Wonderstone' Starring Steve Carell

Once again, as his episodes are running out on NBC's hit comedy series "The Office" another project with Steve Carell has some new legs. THR reports Burt Wonderstone, a magician comedy with Carell in the titular role, has landed TV director Charles McDougall to sit in the director's chair for the feature film. The project has been in development since 2006 from New Line Cinema and once had Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher) attached to direct. The story is set in the world of rival Las Vegas magicians where Carell plays a magic man dehtroned by a hip younger illusionist and then must find a way to rediscover his love for magic.

This could almost be a follow-up to Carell's run on "The Office" as Michael Scott since the office boss has always had a strange obsession with magic tricks. Apparently the project is looking to shoot this fall using a script ...

Louis Leterrier Set to Direct Secret Sci-Fi Tentpole 'G' for Universal

After bring the sword and sandals remake Clash of the Titans to the big screen, it looks like director Louis Leterrier is ready to head in the opposite direction for some sci-fi. Heat Vision reports the director has signed on to direct and produce a secretive sci-fi tentpole project simply titled G. Universal is behind the project whose plot is under wraps, but apparently the film is said to be a disaster film with hints of Day After Tomorrow and Taken. The project is still very much in the early stages of development as the project has been built out of an idea from producer Guymond Casady and is currently being sent out to writers.

Being a cross between The Day After Tomorrow and Taken, I'm envisioning some sort of plot where the world is ending, but one man will do whatever he takes to see the woman he loves one ...

RYAN: I had very low expectations for the new romantic comedy No Strings Attached, which stars Golden Globe winner Natalie Portman, and Bruce Willis's son, Ashton Kutcher.CAROLINE: [laughs] I went in with low expectations too, but I was hopeful that it could be really funny. We love rom coms and haven't seen a good one in a while; and given the cast, I was thinking this one might be good. I was sorely mistaken.RYAN: Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree because I kind of liked this movie. It's not an instant classic or anything, but I was surprised at its originality and lack of clich.CAROLINE: Yeah, it's original until Friends With Benefits comes out this summer. I did like the premise - can you build a real romantic relationship with your sex buddy - but the script was lame. I found a lot of the scenarios totally unfunny, silly and over the top. I kept wondering why Natalie Portman was in this. Isn't she supposed to be taking her career more seriously now?RYAN: I feel like she's turned a corner though because truly she isn't the best actress out there, but now she's got Black Swan, which is clearly the best performance she's ever given, and I also thought she felt a lot in this one. She plays a pretty cold person though, so maybe that helped.CAROLINE: I think she wanted this movie to show her as a 'normal' girl who hangs out with her friends, uses profanity and talks about sex, which is fine; I just find her acting stiff and awkward.RYAN: I'm just glad it wasn't Jennifer Aniston or Katherine Heigl in the role.CAROLINE: This does seem like the kind of mediocre movie that Jennifer Aniston would be in though, if she were 15 years younger. I know they were going for a raunchy rated R comedy, and I laughed a few times, but it wasn't nearly funny enough. I was never grossed out - there weren't poop jokes or anything - but there were a few overt sexual scenarios that didn't work at all.RYAN: I'll give you that. And I really like Lake Bell as an actress, but I didn't buy her at all as Ashton Kutcher's work friend/sidekick. She's too gorgeous to be a character actress. That role should have gone to... um... what's her name?CAROLINE: Judy Greer. She always plays the best friend.RYAN: Exactly. Someone not as attractive. Then there's Greta Gerwig from last year's Greenberg, in her most mainstream role yet; a glorified cameo from Cary Elwes, who basically has one line; and Kevin Kline as Ashton's dad. He's great, as always. I didn't even know he was in the movie.CAROLINE: Me neither. That was one of the few things I liked about the movie - spotting all the different actors in small roles who you weren't expecting to see. There was also Abby Elliott from SNL, and that cute blonde Mollee from Season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance. RYAN: OMG yes!! I couldn't place her till just now! She's so cute.CAROLINE: Basically, I was somewhat into the first 20-30 minutes of the movie - not loving it, but enjoying it enough - and then I realized it just wasn't very good. I started to get bored.RYAN: It's definitely a little too long by about 10 or 15 minutes, but I was entertained the whole time and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I liked this better than any rom com of 2010.CAROLINE: Clearly, you're forgetting The Switch, which was much cuter.RYAN: I do have to say that Ashton Kutcher's wardrobe was heinous. That blue and black checked jacket at the end?? Who would ever wear that? And his hair was basically a bowl cut.CAROLINE: The best part about this movie for me was seeing familiar faces and actors I enjoy, but the script was lame and the quality of the acting wasn't enough to elevate it. -- BOTTOM LINE --RYAN: I had a good time at this movie, and I'd recommend it for the chick flick audience. I enjoyed it.CAROLINE: I, for the most part, did not. This is a rental at best, though I'm not sure I can even recommend renting it. Maybe if you're hung over on the couch and it comes on cable, you could watch it and laugh once or twice. But don't get too excited for it.-- RATING --Cheeky & Fresh Movie Reviews

This Week's Unnecessary Remake: 'The Bodyguard' at Warner Bros

The last time I laid down the law on an unnecessary remake it was Paramount's decision to remake the 1991 ensemble comedy Soapdish (which also just gained the writer Ben Schwartz). Now this time the unnecessary remake machine has been started up at Warner Bros. with Deadline saying the studio will redo the 1992 hit film The Bodyguard. The original film followed Kevin Costner as a Secret Service agent who is drafted to protect a singing diva (Whitney Houston) whose life is threatened by a dangerous stalker. But the bodyguard wasn't counting on falling in love with the diva and distracting him from sufficiently doing his job. Read on.

Apparently this new version (written by newcomers Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer) still fits along those same lines but the bodyguard has been changed to a former Iraq war veteran who gets the job as his first responsibility after leaving the army. ...

FRANKIE & ALICE

RYAN: Halle Berry is an Oscar winner, a gorgeous woman and seemingly very cool. Sharon Stone and everything else in that movie was just wrong. Or at least I hear it was; I never saw it.RYAN: Well Frankie & Alice isn't as bad, but it's certainly no winner.CAROLINE: This movie is sort of known in the industry as Halle's last minute bid at an Oscar nod this year; and we all know how that turned out.RYAN: Not only has she not been nominated, but barely anyone has buzzed or even knows about this movie.CAROLINE: I haven't even been inspired to make time for it yet. But you did. Thoughts?RYAN: Well, before the season kicked off, I was enticed by the premise: Halle Berry as a woman with split personalities and racist overtones. I had hopes, but they were quickly dashed.CAROLINE: How are the multiple personalities?RYAN: Her characters are well defined, but kinda laughable. And it's almost embarrassing to watch her at times.CAROLINE: Ouch. That's not okay.RYAN: Some moments were successfully tense and dramatic. But it's just awkward overall and the writing is pretty loopy, so I never really connected with it.CAROLINE: How does she look in the movie?RYAN: She's hot. And she does some acting with her looks, but even when she's crazy it's just not completely believable.CAROLINE: She is obviously a very talented actress, but seems to need some help picking roles since her Oscar win a few years back.RYAN: That could be. There were a couple moments, however brief, where it was fun to cringe at how awkward this movie is... but not enough to warrant a viewing.CAROLINE: I think I'll skip this one altogether.-- BOTTOM LINE --RYAN: Not Halle's best work, by any standards. SANCTUM

CAROLINE: Let's devote as little time as possible to this review because it's seriously not worth it. Sanctum is a movie about caves and diving. The end.RYAN: But it's executive produced by James Cameron! And didn't they use Avatar technology to film it in 3D?CAROLINE: Yes, but honestly I could barely tell the movie was in 3D. Sometimes I had to take my glasses off just to check, and sure enough the movie looked the same with or without them in most scenes. Totally disappointing.RYAN: That makes no sense.CAROLINE: What makes no sense is how this movie even got made. I guess when you have James Cameron behind you, anything is possible.RYAN: Was it truly that awful?CAROLINE: It started out OK. Not great, but the scenery in the beginning was cool, and I was excited to see where it would go. But once they're in the cave and a huge storm hits, it turns into this melodramatic nightmare of a horror movie. It's seriously bloody and gross, and I was not prepared for that.RYAN: Is there a murderer? Monsters?CAROLINE: No, nothing like that. But a few scenes have the level of gore that a horror movie would have. It's about survival, and what you have to do to get yourself out of this enormous, uncharted cave during a cyclone. People die off in gruesome ways and I was so not into it.RYAN: That's so not what I expected from seeing this trailer. I thought it was about the beauty of nature or something.CAROLINE: Me too! I knew it wasn't going to great, but I had no idea how bad it would actually be. It's so poorly written, and some of the acting is atrocious.RYAN: Did you recognize any of the cast? It certainly doesn't have any stars.CAROLINE: A couple of them looked familiar. One is in the Fantastic Four franchise. And one guy was the Duke in Moulin Rouge! RYAN: No way! How's he looking?CAROLINE: Old, but still attractive. -- BOTTOM LINE --CAROLINE: I can't recommend this movie even a little bit. Maybe for teenage boys, but the rest of us would be disgusted. The audience was laughing at the painful dialogue, and it's totally overwrought. The 3D is nothing special, the story is absurd and I was so bored that I never thought it would end. Warner Bros Plans on Remaking The Bodyguard

Some things are just better left alone.  Warner Bros. is developing a remake of its 1992 film The Bodyguard, according to Deadline. The original version starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, in what has become Houston's biggest hit.  Many great Houston songs also came from that movie, including the bestselling "I Will Always Love You." Costner played a former Secret Service agent assigned to protect a superstar, played by Houston, from a stalker. And just like all romantic dramas, the two fall in love, which complicates things. The plan is to hire a real singer for the role and try to emulate a similar feel as the original.  This sounds like something Beyonce would jump on!

Trailer Tuesdays!

RYAN: We've got a horror movie and something James Cameron-ish to look forward to this week... but LBH, it's still a bunch of lame January releases.CAROLINE: Let's start with The Roommate. This is a horror movie I'd actually be willing to see - for free, anyway. It doesn't look great, but it looks like it has thriller components as opposed to just flat-out gore. I mean, it's basically Single White Female set in college.RYAN: I can't believe you'd actually want to see this movie! It looks beyond cheesy and lame... but I guess I could be in the mood to see something ber cheesy. We can all relate to having a creepy roommate, but I'd go in with low expectations for sure. CAROLINE: It's not so much that I want to see it. You know I hate horror movies as a rule, and try to avoid them; but this is one I think I could actually stomach. RYAN: It stars Leighton Meester from TV's Gossip Girl as the pyscho roommate, and Minka Kelly from Friday Night Lights. And also the hottie from Burlesque! CAROLINE: I knew you'd like that. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie did very well this weekend. The kids love horror movies and this one is about college students, so it's a win-win for them. Check out the trailer here: RYAN: Next up is Sanctum, a 3D movie executive produced by James Cameron that has no major stars in it. CAROLINE: I'm on the fence on this one. The trailer is exciting in parts, but the dialogue looks horrendous. The story could be cool though.RYAN: The 3D is going to be great since James Cameron is involved, and they're using the Avatar technology. I don't mind a deep sea adventure... but this doesn't look like a real winner either.CAROLINE: It's not a good sign that no one famous is in it, but the if adventure is good enough, it might not matter; especially if the 3D is awesome.
