Christopher McQuarrie to Adapt 'Star Blazers' TV Show for New Film

He's turned in great work for director Bryan Singer in the form of screenplays for The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, but he also had a hand in the mess that was The Tourist. With the anticipated Wolverine sequel and Jack the Giant Killer already on their way into production, writer Christopher McQuarrie is ready for his next project. Deadline reports the writer will pen the script for an adaptation of the 1970's animated sci-fi series Star Blazers for David Ellison's Skydance Productions. The series is actually an adaptation of the Japanese anime series Space Battleship Yamato which was turned into its own live-action film recently.
