Shawn Levy to Direct James Cameron Produced 'Fantastic Voyage'

Producer Steven Speilberg entrusted him with the robot boxing flick Real Steel, and from that gig has come another deal that will have Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy teaming up again. Now another famed director is giving Levy another high profile project as Deadline says 20th Century Fox and producer James Cameron have hired the Night at the Museum director to helm the new 3D remake of Fantastic Voyage based on the 1966 sci-fi flick of the same name. After Paul Greengrass fell away from this last year, Darren Aronofsky, Timur Bekmambetov & Louis Leterrier all met with Cameron before he chose Levy for the job.

The remake is in line to be one of Fox's tentpole projects, but it's not clear when it will see release just yet. It's a special effects heavy, sci-fi romp, so the earliest I could see it getting released would be late next year, ...
