Screen Gems Taking 'Devil May Cry' Video Game to the Big Screen

Since Screen Gems already has the Resident Evil franchise pumping cash back into the company (no matter how terrible the films may be), it only makes sense that the company is looking to adapt a video game that has its foundation in the Resident Evil video game franchise. Variety reports Screen Gems has picked up the feature film rights to the Capcom video game series Devil May Cry with the hopes of creating a new franchise. The story follows a man named Dante who avenges his mother's murder by killing off demons. Though the video game stands on its own two feet now, it was originally supposed to be another installment of Resident Evil.

The game was originally developed as the third installment of the Resident Evil game series, but the game's design and style started to stray away from the franchise, Capcom decided to turn it into an original property. ...
