Mike White No Longer Directing 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'

Last November we found out that actor, writer and director Mike White (who wrote and starred in School of Rock and directed Year of the Dog) had signed on to helm Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the gestating adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's zombie-infused telling of Jane Austen's period romance. Now the project seems to be without a director yet again though as Deadline reports White was forced to drop out of the director's chair because of a preexisting commitment at HBO (likely involving the series "Enlightened" for which he already directed the pilot). Sadly scheduling did not allow White to do both.

White commented on his departure, "I loved the project and looked forward to working with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, the timing could not be worked out. I wish them the best with the movie." Previously director David O. Russell left the project before White came along to ...
