Jeremy Renner Confirms Takeover of 'Mission: Impossible' Series

Because of the lukewarm box office reception of this year's action comedy Knight and Day starring Tom Cruise, Paramount thought it best to bring in another young agent to work with Cruise's character Ethan Hunt for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and potentially take over the franchise. We already know that man is Jeremy Renner, but now, straight from the actor's mouth, we have some confirmation that the plan is for Renner to relieve Tom Cruise of his IMF duties. The actor recently spoke to MTV and confirmed the plans for the franchise to fall into his lap, but there are no solid plans for another new sequel just yet.

Renner revealed, "It's a franchise to potentially take over. I can't predict the future and what they want, but that's certainly the idea." However, whether or not a straight-up hand-off of the series will show up in the fourth installment of ...
