Catherine Hardwicke to Direct British 60's Gangster Film 'Diamond'

Though there was some hope for director Catherine Hardwicke to turn back to some decent filmmaking after delivering the first installment of The Twilight Saga, she went ahead and pandered to her new wide audience with a sloppy retelling of Red Riding Hood. Though she's since been attached to direct the first in a hopeful franchise with The Maze Runner, we've yet to hear anything on that project just yet. Now ScreenDaily has word on a new project for the director as she's currently in talks to direct Diamond, a new British gangster film set in 1960's London. However, it doesn't sound like any story details are yet available.

Frankie and Alice writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will script the film which will likely start shooting sometime in 2013. Right now Hardwicke is casting her erotic thriller Plush starring Evan Rachel Wood, so it will be a little while before ...
