Django Unchained: Minimalist Poster

Sure, we’ve heard lots about Quentin Tarantino and his latest picture Django Unchained. If the filmmaker does for westerns what he did with World War II in Inglourious Basterds, audiences are in for a treat. But beyond that, we have no visuals for the latest from the visionary filmmaker. That changed when The Weinstein Company released the film’s first art, a very simple, but effective, movie poster.

Django Unchained Poster
The film stars Jamie Foxx as the title character, a freed slave, who toils as the mentee of a bounty hunter played by Christoph Waltz. The star wattage beyond Foxx and Waltz is immense: Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kurt RUsell, Don Johnson, Kerry Washington, Anthony LaPaglia and James Remar. Look for the western December 25.

The sci-fi adaptation, starring Asa Butterfield and Harrison Ford, is now set to open November 1st, 2013. One of the big changes that has affected scheduling is Summit being bought by Lionsgate. In other updates, Disney has now officially scheduled their Maleficent movie, about the Sleeping Beauty evil fairy's origin story starring Angelina Jolie, for March 14th, 2014. Plus, Paramount has shifted the release of The Dictator by just a few days.

Nolan's 'The Dark Knight Rises' Lands a PG-13 Rating, As Expected

Briefly: It should come as no surprise that Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, which has already been screened for Warner Bros execs and apparently the MPAA, has received a PG-13 rating. Collider reports that a NolanFans forum member got a screenshot (here) of the official PG-13 rating on the WB exhibitors' website, stating it's rated for "intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language." The Bane prologue was already rated PG-13 and this isn't a big surprise, though still intriguing to hear. Once again Nolan pulls off a PG-13 with ease, though I'm sure it's still dark and violent. In related news, check out this dark promo bus (above) for TDKR found in Hong Kong. Things are heating up with only 3 months left!
