Last November we found out that Sacha Baron Cohen would be reuniting with his Borat and Br�no director Larry Charles for their first non-mockumentary film The Dictator. The film was said to follow a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the U.S.. But today Paramount Pictures announced a slightly different logline along with a theatrical release date of May 11, 2012. Apparently Saddam Hussein's best-selling novel Zabibah and the King inspired the story which sees a dictator risk his life to ensure democracy will never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.
Leave it to Cohen to take on another film that will surely take shots at international politics. I'm curious as to whether the previous mention of a goat herder was a red herring or if that's merely a subplot in the story. There's also no mention of the dictator getting lost ...
