Trailer Tuesdays!

RYAN: Happy Holidays everyone! Let's gear up for the last big Trailer Tuesdays of the year because as we all know, nothing big really comes out the week after Christmas.CAROLINE: Since it's Christmas week, naturally we have an Oscar contender and some family fare. Let's start with Little Fockers... if we must.RYAN: Ugh. I can't even believe they expect us to suffer through another one of these movies.CAROLINE: Meet the Fockers was horrible, and honestly, I didn't even like the first one all that much.RYAN: It could partially be due to our semi-hatred of Ben Stiller. But it also just be that these movies aren't funny. Boner jokes in the trailer?? Really, people!?CAROLINE: I know. It's beyond lowest common denominator humor. I can't believe Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman would stoop to this. I'm seriously dreading seeing this movie, but I feel like I should take one for the team since it'll undoubtedly be a Christmas hit.RYAN: I'm not sure I can bring myself to see it. But isn't it nice for Teri Polo that she gets to be in a movie again every time they make a new one of these?CAROLINE: I know. Her career didn't really take off as planned after Meet the Parents now, did it? Check out the Little Fockers trailer here - but you might regret it afterward: RYAN: Next up is True Grit, the new Western from the Coen brothers, which comes out tomorrow. I'm really excited for this one since it's one of the final real Oscar contenders of the year.CAROLINE: I can't say this is my favorite genre, though I do generally enjoy the movies the Coens make. And the little girl in this one, Hailee Steinfeld, is getting a lot of buzz. Plus it's got Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon.RYAN: Honey, don't forget Josh Brolin!CAROLINE: This movie is interesting for awards season because it's on a lot of people's lists for a Best Picture Oscar nom, but it got totally snubbed at the Golden Globes nominations.RYAN: Maybe the GGs had a hard time categorizing it. I mean, it seems like a drama so maybe since there are only 5 spots in that category at the GGs, there wasn't any room for it.CAROLINE: Maybe. I just wonder if it says something about the movie. I like the trailer, but I'm not dying to see this. The main thing that interests me is the cast. Watch the trailer here: RYAN: Finally, there's another film for the kiddies, Gulliver's Travels, starring Jack Black and opening on Christmas Day. I don't even really have words for how atrocious this movie looks.CAROLINE: Don't get me started. I don't know what's up with Jack Black's career these days. RYAN: The rest of the cast is really good though - Emily Blunt, Amanda Peet and Jason Segel.CAROLINE: I really like all of them, but you know I can't deal with kids' films. Yogi Bear almost did me in. I think it's too soon for me to see another one. RYAN: I hear you. I'm not going to ruin your Christmas by making you see this movie. I think we'll both take a rain check.
