Although it officially opened in theaters on November 5th last year, Danny Boyle's new film 127 Hours is still playing, and it's not doing too well, unfortunately, but it deserves better. Box Office Mojo reports that it's earned $11.1 million so far, well below Black Swan ($77M) or The King's Speech ($49M). Expecting that James Franco, who stars as Aron Ralston, and others involved will get Oscar nominations next week when they're announced Tuesday, January 25th, THR reports that Fox Searchlight is expanding its release from 76 theaters to 600 theaters on January 28th next week. Hopefully this will get some folks back into theaters.
"All indications are that James Franco will be nominated for best actor," they say, and of course, Searchlight also is campaigning for more noms like Best Picture, Director and Screenplay. Apparently The Last King of Scotland, which Searchlight released in 2006, earned an extra $14 million ...
